Work From Home Desk Tour
Designing, building, and changing my personal workspace is one of the many things I enjoy experimenting with and developing.
This is where I take all meetings, write, edit, and literally spend most of my time at, and as my career and needs progress and change overtime, it is always fun to see how my workspace progresses with me.
I want to document this journey, as I currently live at home with parents, and so having a spot that works for me is important. I will guide you through my process, so you can build your workspace to make you happy as well. First step for me is finding a location.
Location
Location plays a key role in where to setup up your desk.
Will it be in your bedroom?
In a room dedicate in your office?
Or will it be in a space some where in your apartment or house?
For me, I personally tried setting up my desk in my room. But overtime it was hard to separate work from my personal life. So, now that I live home with my parents I decided to move my entire setup into the living room of my house where I had to get out bed and “go to work” and so that keep my bedroom a safe space to watch anime, read, and just vibe out to music for my personal time.
The Desk - Flexispot EN1 (4/5 Stars)
This is the Flexispot EN1 adjustable electric standing desk. It is a 48’’ inches wide by 30’’ inches which means I get plenty of space and room to have my setup. I got a standing desk because since I basically at my computer all day, I try to stretch my legs and work standing.
The Desk has a LED Memory Control Panel to control your height and set presets. You can adjust between 28” to 47.6” and I have mine set to 28.5” and 40” standing.
I would rate the desk around a 4/5 since it does get a little wobbly when in standing mode, but totally fine in desk mode. The desk is on the pricer end on Amazon pricing at $300.
But I had it for two years so far and I like it. It is a bit challenging to put together, and definitely heavy to move around, so just be aware of that.
Before this though, I rocked the ikea desk, the desk that literally almost every college student has and I still love it. You can probably find one on Facebook Marketplace for under $20!
The Chair -
This is the ikea RENBERGET chair. It cost me around $70 new 3 years ago, but you can probably find one off of FB market place for maybe half the price. I love the look and feel of this chair, but I also added a small pillow to support the arch in my back. I would give this chair a solid 3/3.5 stars. I didn’t know chairs were so expensive. So this was my first “big boy” chair and maybe will upgrade in the future. But it is overall very nice.
This is the Macally Laptop Stand that I had for over 5 years now. It is very study and the fan is detachable so if you don’t like it, you can take it out, or if your laptop gets hot often you can just connect it. It is not on Amazon any move but it was probably around $30-$40. 4.5/5 because you can’t adjust the height, but it hasnt bothered me.
